Rock Comedy All Stars Tonight

Music and comedy go together like peanut butter and chocolate, like peanut butter and jelly, like peanut butter and bacon. Peanut butter is almost as great as this show, worth the $13 admission, but if you want to be sneaky and cheap, shoot an email to Peter Prins [peter atsymbol] to try to get on the free guest list.

Rock Comedy All StarsA great line up of some of the best of the Improv's musical comics...

Creative Time Traveling Comedians

Sure it was for a good cause, something about teaching creative writing to troubled youths or something, but the highlight of this article from our friends at LA Weekly is what supplies comedians would take when time traveling. Patton Oswalt gave the most pragmatic answer, but no one said a zany sidekick. Check out the whole article here with pictures here.

As for the latest in comedy, we'll be getting a redesign relatively soon. Tonight we'll be hitting up The Armando Show at ioWest, a staple of improv comedy, followed by The Lottery. Our next best recommendation would be The Ninja Harold performance at UCB this evening. If you're sick of us always suggesting UCB and iO, tell us where else to go! Email thecomingla [at]

EDIT: Matt Besser is doing What's Up, Tiger Lily tonight. Add that to the usual awesome line-up, and we can't help but advise you to check this one out.

Into That Good Night!

We will not go gently!

It does look like The Apiary, The Bastion, and The Coming are all destined to merge into one super comedy site. Where exactly that leaves you, dear reader, is with an amalgamation of comedy insiders providing you with hot hot news about funny funny people.

However, we will not go quietly, because we have some shows people are screaming about. Wow that's cheesy.

O'Briends Stand-upTonight, you can check out some sweet stand-up in Santa Monica at O'Briens pub, 2941 Main St at 8pm. The line-up is currently looking like:
Rich Slaton
Patrick Keane
Rawle Lewis
Rebecca Michael
Sheldon Anderson
Melinda Hill
and very special guest
Ed Marques

For more details, you can always check or ask your old friends at The Coming.

Walk on the wild side, and don't take the blue pill.

Goodbye, Bastion

We knew it was coming, but even for us it was sudden. Our sister site in Chicago, and good friend Elizabeth McQuern, officially closed up earlier today.

While we understand the reasons behind it and support her decision, we want nothing more than to continue to provide a creative outlet for everything comedy related. Personally it has always been our goal to help drum up excitement for live, quality comedy shows and we hope to continue to provide such a service. That being said, we too are looking at some potential shake-ups in the future, but stay tuned for more details.

Check out for good comedy this weekend, and don't let the bad men touch you.

Your Girlfriend Tonight

We've written about them before, but the Your Girlfriend show is not to be missed. Straight from their collective mouth:

The show is tonight. It's gonna be great. The comedians are great. The
band is great. You are great. Everything is great, great.

If you are still on the fence, this should convince you. We were just
endorsed by this guy:

So you know it's gonna be good.
