Ask For It By Name: Brian Barrett, Andree Vermeulen for Hot Pockets

Brian Barrett (Bastian, Classic Masculinity) and Andree Vermeulen (CollegeHumor.com, Hot Lather: As the Diamond Burns, Gramp's) sure make a handsome couple, and we love seeing them in this Hot Pockets commercial, even though it's stretching things a bit. Handsome couples don't walk around and eat Hot Pockets. They bake them. At home. In a preheated oven, preparing all six Hot Pockets at once. Then they cut them into smaller pieces, spearing each with a toothpick. Then their friends come over to drink Shiraz, play "Celebrities" and eat their fancy Hot Pockets hors d'oeuvres. Do I wish I were one of those friends? You bet I do. (Catch Brian THURS, SEPT 24 @ 11PM at Cagematch)

ASK FOR IT BY NAME: CHRIS SMITH FOR HOT POCKETS

I'm pretty sure Chris Smith (Harvard Sailing Team) knows his way around a Hot Pocket. I'm friends with Chris, and I know he has brothers, so chances are pretty good the Smith boys at some point have fought over how many Hot Pockets were eaten in one sitting. Speaking of sitting, Hot Pockets (EatFreely.org) seems to be advocating walking while eating Hot Pockets, which is kinda good because Hot Pockets are so bad for you, and a leading cause of eating in front of a television. But these commercials are helpful not only because they encourage exercise, but because they show the evils of discrimination. Nice work, Hot Pockets. (Catch Chris FRI, SEPT 25 @ 9:30PM with Harvard Sailing Team)

ASK FOR IT BY NAME: ANDREE VERMEULEN FOR APPLE

Wow, this is a first for "Ask For It By Name" -- the same comedy actor appearing twice in the same post! We get thrilled about the Little Things around here, but we're gonna go out on a very short limb here to say that Andree Vermeulen is pretty much the opposite of a Little Thing -- she's a Next Big Thing, as evidenced by her booking this Apple ad. And her comedy-dance card is quite full these days with weekly sketch and improv shows. Meanwhile, her Renée Zellweger impersonation makes us feel as giddy as Jim Carrey probably felt on the set of Me, Myself & Irene. (Catch Andree at Maude Night at The UCB-NY)
