The Apiary Presents... @ The PIT Underground - 3.10.11

By: Morgan Venticinque

The Apiary held its first ever comedy show in the basement of the PIT (Does it have a name yet? Let’s Work On It.) in honor of the ECNY’s Emerging Comic nominees on Thursday. The show went well, looked awesome and smelt great. Not to mention well attended with standing room only… but only because there were not enough chairs as Nick Turner pointed out, "The PIT, making us fight for them down here..." which was followed by a chair fight to the death in my mind.

It was quite an eclectic mix of comedians that night; Adrienne Iappaluci* was a hero taking a bullet for the rest of the comics who included Mike Recine (Talked about Monkeys), Ilana Glazer (Talked about rape), Nick Turner (Talked about Superman) and Jared Logan (Talked about People with Big Heads). All of whom if you haven’t seen, do yourself a favor and find them, befriend them, have them over for dinner, give them shoulder rubs. But I think the night belonged to Nate Sloan and Keith Huang, the faces of The Apiary, who popped their hosting hymen; dropping facts about The Apiary and forgetting credits of the people they were introducing, and looking into the darkness to see if and from where the comedians would approach. I hope The Apiary Presents becomes a tradition and branches out to do other themed shows. I’m glad I was there for the first one.

*Note shortly after taking the bullet, Adrienne was rushed to the nearest hospital and pronounced hilarious at 10:36 Post Meridian.
