SKETCHFESTNYC is back, New York! So get yourselves to the UCB this Thursday for a three-day bender of sketch bits and bobs. All week long The Apiary is spotlighting a few of the SFNYC performers and producers, all of whom traded at least a portion of their souls for the Written Word of Comedy. To get it started, we lofted a softballs to Kimmy Gatewood (The Apple Sisters, Make Up Break Up, Nerdcore Rising).

Welcome back to New York, Kimmy. What have you got for us for this year?
Thank you Apiary! I have missed you guys so much. Wanna make out? Later? OK. Well, for Sketchfest this year, I'll be rocking out on the guitar, Thursday at 11pm at "Sketchfest Rocks" with some oldies and new-ies. Then, on Friday at 11pm, I'll be performing a two-person show I wrote, "3000 Miles to Figure it Out" (aka Make Up Break Up), with the amazingly talented Rich Hollman. It's a show I developed at Ars Nova last year and have since performed in Los Angeles. It's about a couple that breaks up and drives cross country together. It's partly true, partly not. And I could be lying about all of this (except that I want to make out with you).

Memorable moments of SketchFestNYC's past?
The Apple Sisters return last year. We were a bit homesick and came back to such the best audience ever. The stage was electric -- I'll never forget it. Also, a very pregnant Biz faking delivery at the CRAPTACULAR. And me missing Stefan shaving his head. I missed it!!! (That's 2-1/2 memorable moments).

And since you're one of the thousands of Los Angeleno transplants, what's on your New York City must-list while you're here?
Thousands? Do you mean millions? Or tens? What spectrum are we looking at here? See, I haven't dumbed down just because I moved to LA. Anyway, my must list is:
3. Complain that I don't have my car.
4. Get some great cocktails at the Milk & Honey bars.
5. See as many familiar faces as possible.
6. Black pasta at Frank's, Lobster Roll at Mermaid Inn, and falafel at Oasis.
7. Remark at the differences between LA & NY ("So humid in NY!  Look at these apartments!  So crowded! How do you do it?")
8. Drink until 4am.

--SketchFestNYC starts THIS THURSDAY @ 7PM at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Everything you need to know about who's playing and how to get tickets can be found here.

Sketching can be useful in some cases. But now I feel freelance writer jobs as better decision
