A Michael and Michael Have Issues Status Report By: Jesse Sachs

A couple of Fridays ago, some of Comedy Central's anticipated new show, Michael and Michael Have Issues, was filmed in a small and unassuming studio on the Upper West Side. Even in its unfinished and seemingly unfocused state, it is easy to see that Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black are back in big way since the demise of Stella (which was swiftly replaced with Apiary fave Mind of Mencia)
The taping started with some sketches that were already shot, which, without giving too much away, ran an extremely bizarre gamut, but we're mostly delightful--particularly one involving gray sweatpants.
Later, they filmed a couple of live sketches with the help of co-stars Andrea Rosen and Jordan Carlos. While they weren't the most intellectual of scenes (primarily consisting of farts and "forking"), Michael Ian Black was able to poke fun at himself by loudly chanting the word "genius!"
Michael Showalter said when it comes to the final product, they won't use everything they shoot, but once it all gets put together and edited, they're going to have a real monster of a show on their hands. According to the official MMHI site, the series is now wrapped and ready to go. Michael and Michael Have Issues premieres on July 15th at 10:30PM on Comedy Central.
