Elizabeth McQuern rocks! Awesome!!

Posted by: soce at May 16, 2008 9:09 AM

Wow. I really want to see this set!

Posted by: Eliza at May 16, 2008 10:25 AM

Wow, I'm a maven! Thanks, Apiary, and Keith (and Soce!). Although this photo just reminds me that I haven't actually performed comedy since December of last year. Something is amiss.

That entire set list is also the answer sheet for Indie Rock Trivia Night.

is it me, or do mcquern and benincasa have eerily similar voices?

McQuern rules.

Those are the same hands she uses to blog. If anyone ever opened a Hard Blog Cafe, this photo would be hanging there.

I want to hear "Oprah's Spaceship."
Make that happen.

Posted by: Fritz at May 16, 2008 1:49 PM

Your fist is hilarious!

Posted by: Keith E. at May 16, 2008 1:52 PM

Keith, you think I sound like Sara Benincasa? That's flattering. I'm afraid it's only the red hair that we have in common.

I think I sound like an adenoidal Hoosier girl whose recent transplantation to Chicago has only made my speaking voice more nasal.

And yes, Nate, these blogging hands take the raw clay of HTML and create neatly edited content on The Bastion and everywhere else I log in. Someday they will be framed in a shadow box. Hopefully after my death.

When's the Oprah's Spaceship DVD Boxed Set coming out? This waiting game is brutal...

Posted by: Melissa at May 16, 2008 2:14 PM

I remember Cat Waffles being a really funny bit. The phrase itself makes me want to:
-name a cat Waffles
-create a band named Cat Waffles
-create a waffle iron in the shape of a cat
-start calling roadkill Cat Waffles (oh, that's sad)

Go Elizabeth!

McQuern is on the Pulse of who's who and what's what in Chi-Town Comedy- Big Ups!!!

Posted by: Leber at May 16, 2008 2:27 PM

There is no tape of my set that night, but if you're totally bored, you can listen to the Bucket of Nerds podcast of a late night conversation that spawned both the cat waffle and the Oprah's spaceship jokes.

Posted by: Elizabeth McQuern at May 16, 2008 4:42 PM

I saw this set and it ruled! Keep it going Chicago Comics!

Posted by: Julianna at May 16, 2008 5:42 PM

Wow, you werent kidding when you said that you knew your set list like the back of your hand

Posted by: nick vatterott at May 16, 2008 6:04 PM

Geeks eat lightbulbs. Nerds have them appear over their heads.

Posted by: Billy Reno at May 18, 2008 10:13 AM

Hey! I know those hands! And that sweat band! And those jokes!! Hooray for brilliant comedy that is created over bad waffles!
