The Gag Reel
By: Mo Diggs
STRIKEWATCH: Conan shaved his strike beard, Letterman can't beat Leno in the ratings, and the casual viewer wouldn't be able to tell that The Daily Show is different. [All via TVTattle] Cynopsis has virtually stopped writing about the strike too. Is a deal in sight or is everyone bored? Nikki Finke suggests: "Things are looking very good."
PERFECT COMEDY STORM: Between the Comedy Central Presents one-two of Hard & Phirm and Leo Allen on Friday and the Neko Case episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force coupled with an ultraviolent Tim and Eric Awesome Show on Sunday. There were more smiles on faces this weekend than there were when SCTV was released on DVD.
PERFECT COMEDY S#!T STORM: Meet the Spartans slipped past Rambo on Friday and vauguely racist ventriloquist Jeff Dunham was announced Comedy Central's King of Comedy. If this stuff is popular with Middle Americans, then a spoof of Fahrenheit 9/11 should take off like gangbusters in Peoria.
COURT JESTER: Leno wins lawsuit against joke book author for writing Leno's jokes without permission. Only Leno writes Leno's jokes without permission.(thanks Jeff!)
THE COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN: Javier Bardem and Scarlett Johansson will star in a romantic comedy directed by Woody Allen called Vicky Cristina Barcelona, according to this article on his upcoming British crime drama, Cassandra's Dream.
SAG SNAG: Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin snag SAG awards for best comedic leads while Office gets best ensemble.
DVD PICKS: Curb Your Enthusiasm - The Complete Sixth Season is the recommended chaser after the sensory pyschedelic maelstrom of
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Vol. 5.
