The Gag Reel
By: Mo Diggs

The week's most pressing film and television news.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usRAZZIE HOPEFULS: Two SNL alums have been targeted by The Razzies. Adam Sandler was nominated for I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry while Eddie Murphy netted a whopping record setting five noms for his work in Norbit. FYI, Murphy was also in one of the biggest flops ever, Pluto Nash.

AND THE NOMINEES ARE: The Oscar nominees were announced today. Juno lands 4 nommies including: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress. Patton Oswalt and Paul F. Tompkins have reason to celebrate too. Ratatouille, the most critically acclaimed film of '07, gets a nod for Best Animated Feature and There Will Be Blood mops up a bunch of other categories. This news is especially ideal for Tompkins, because he already has several nice suits to choose from for the Oscars ceremony. (If it happens.)

TALKS: WGA and AMPTP are expected to return to table this week if not today. Good. Conan can only survive the strike for so long in his new 10 MILLION dollar dreamhome.

DUST OFF THE LAUGH TRACK: As the strike wears on, reality TV thrives. But so do sitcoms. How can sitcoms die when they are endlessly rerun?

BE KIND, EJECT: Variety wrote a catty review of Be Kind, Rewind, concluding it will go straight to DVD.

DVD PICK: Beavis and Butthead: Mike Judge Collection 2 & 3. Succumb to Butthead.
