Rififi To Close (?)

1802485816_3d010c215c_m.jpgMultiple sources are saying that the fate of Rififi has been decided: the venue shall close. Bobby Tisdale also announced yesterday at Invite Them Up that after nearly 6 years running, the last Invite Them Up show at Rififi will be on February 27th.

UPDATE
A reader writes in:

"Bobby Tisdale's announcement of RiFiFi closing may be a bit premature. The whole story is that Robert, the owner of RiFiFi, gathered a bunch of the people who do shows (and some of staff at the bar) the other night and basically said that the bar will close under present ownership at the end of February, but that he was willing to let any of us take over the lease and try to take it over under new management. There are a few more details than that, but let's just leave it at that for now."

Damnit.

Why can't we petition to put this place in the National Register of Historic Places, due to its hosting of the most amazing one-man musical ever, "Brett Gelman's 1000 Cats".

Couldn't that save it?

Rififi to close? Security in the basement?

Where's Greg Johnson? This is so not chill!

I can't believe it! After four fucking years of trying to get on that stage, I get booked on Slightly Buzzed and they're taking it away?! Well, come March 27 I will perform on that stage or stand on the rubble where the stage used to be and DO MY SET! And there will be blood! I feel bad for all the producers and performers as well.

yo that's funny because I was also booked for slightly buzzed (in april)-- it looks like it's not closed now (?) but slightly buzzed has moved on to somewhere else now or something?
