Street Beats
--BROTHERS BLITZ: Did you know that the director of the poignantly comic tale, Rocket Science, is Andy Blitz' brother?
--The Royal We's pilot for TV Land unfortunately did not get picked up. A short scene from the show has found life on Funny or Die though. Some of the We have splintered off and moved to other cities, but a source tells us that they are slated to reunite soon to shoot some videos.
--SO LONG, DAY JOB: The editor of this site, Nate, is saying sayonara to his day job today in order to pursue OTHER OPPORTUNITIES. If you have an opportunity you'd like for him to pursue, let him know. If you simply want to go to the beach or Six Flags with somebody on a weekday, he may be available for that as well.
--Carolyn Castiglia and Jen Dzuria tore up LA in some kind of Ford sponsored blogger vacation. See what happened.
--CollegeHumor hosted a packed preview party Wednesday night in Lenox Hill for Superbad, the latest Judd Apatow vehicle. After seeing the flick, one moviegoer said: "That was LOL-tastic." We agree. 4 out of 5 beehives! It starts off a little dialogue-y, but then kicks your ass with the emergence of the supporting cast of Bill Hader, Seth Rogen, and a blessed performance by Chris Mintz-Plasse. Superbad is totally super! (Feel free to quote that, marketing geniuses.)
--A lot of interesting comedy stuff slated for the NY Fringe Festival, which starts today. Among the titles that stand out: Williamsburg: The Musical, a new one from Drop Six, Earth's Vacation, and Arthur and Esther. Tickets only $15 bucks per show.
--Apiary contributor Eliot Glazer is one half of the comedy team being described as "the newest, Jewwiest, sister-brotheriest duo" to emerge in quite a while. Enter Eliot and Ilana. They're booked for Barrett & Goldman Presents this Saturday night at Rififi.
--Despite what this video says, Sven Wechsler is still with his girlfriend.
--Rob Lathan's character Dr. Lanny Latham nearly got booked on British television.
