What's a Librarianist?
Billy Scafuri of the Harvard Sailing Team has launched an online comic strip thing called The Librarianist. Is a librarianist the same as a racist or a gothamist, but like, devoted solely to covering the cutting edge of today's hot button library issues? Apparently not. Billy explains:
The Librarianist is a NYC based webcomic without recurring characters, continuing narratives, or plot lines. Simply put, it is a comic strip for comedy's sake. Each week new strips will be updated and past strips moved to archives. The archives section currently houses the first 5 published strips.
The site is illustrated by Tim Bierbaum. Full press release affixed below.

Online Comic Series 'The Librarianist' Set To Launch www.TheLibrarianist.com - "Providing the World with Comics since February 12, 2007."
New York City – February 12, 2007 marks the launch of the weekly online comic series "The Librarianist" atTheLibrarianist.com. The site showcases comic strips written by Billy Scafuri and illustrated by Tim Bierbaum.
The Librarianist sense of humor comes from subverting canonized images and icons, including the conventions of the newspaperstrip itself. The Librarianist offers different illustration techniques with a wide range of humor, making each week's strip one of akind. Their strips are always hand drawn and penned in ink. The content is decidedly PG and will not feature politics, sex, or violence, rather tackling more important social issues like bacon, kissing, and the shape of the human head.
Scafuri and Bierbaum first met while working as Head Writer and Art Editor, respectively, on Hofstra University's humor magazine, Nonsense.
Throughout college, the two continued their personal successes in comedy and art. Scafuri began writing and performing comedy at the acclaimed New York comedy house the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. His work at the UCBT led to an internship in the writing department of Saturday Night Live and the co-creation of the NYC sketch comedy team, the Harvard Sailing Team. Bierbaum would go on to win "Best in Show: Drawing" and "Best in Show: Painting" at the Hofstra Student Arts Festival and "Most Original Film" and "Best Photography" at the Hofstra AVF Awards.
Two years after graduating Hofstra University, the two have reunited to create the online comic series, 'The Librarianist.' It willlaunch on February 12, 2007 and be updated with new strips weekly.
