FUSE Pits Their Sketch Group Against MTV's Sketch Groups

We received a press release moments ago for The Whitest Kids U Know's homecoming show which casually stated that the WKUK television debut on FUSE is coming in January of '07--and not early next month as previously announced.

Doesn't take a genius to read between the lines: The WKUK are going head to head against MTV's Human Giant (and Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz) in a BATTLE FOR TELEVISION SUPREMACY!

Press release from What Are Records after the jump.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

WHITEST KIDS U' KNOW RETURN HOME TO NYC; TO CELEBRATE FIRST-EVER NATIONAL TOUR, AND NEW ALBUM RELEASE, WITH NOV. 11TH SHOW AT COMIX

(New York, NY) - October 26, 2006 -- New York's hottest Sketch Comedy Troupe, The Whitest Kids U' Know, have spent the last six weeks traveling across the country with Flogging Molly, performing in ballrooms and theaters across the country, winning over extremely rowdy crowds.

On November 11th they will celebrate by treating their fans and comedy faithful to a special homecoming show at Comix. In addition to their trademark taboo-breaking live sketches, The Kids will be previewing clips from their upcoming Fuse TV show, set to premiere in January 2007.

Most importantly, (well, to us, anyway...) their self-titled debut album will be available at the show. It won't be in stores nationwide until early 2007, but can be found now at shows and through the website of their new label, indie stalwart What Are Records?

The Whitest Kids U' Know were named best sketch group at Aspen's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival 2006.

I should have said "early 2007," we're not sure it's going to be January. Fuse pushed it back so they'd have more time to promote the show, is all...

Let's hope this particular FUSE is attached to a rocket, not a bomb.

the whitest kids could be the next kids in the hall, the kind of sketch crew that a generation talks about for years with reverence. the only way this is a bomb is if fuse doesn't promote it right.

I think the words "pitting against" are a little sensational. Perhaps FUSE is just excited about the show & wish to have more time to promote it? I think it's cool to watch people duke it out for a title, but this is not David Cross vs. Larry the Cable Guy.

I think a more appropriate article would be one about how awesome comedy is making it's way to our television! So let's celebrate. :-O

ps Nick Cannon will blow them all out of the water, anyway.

Both shows are going to be awesome and it's sweet that everyone is going to be on tv, duh. Give everyone here some credit--the scheduling is something that people will notice and talk about.
