Grand Opening of COMIX - 9.14.6
NOTES
--COMIX is a killer venue and as far as big clubs go, this could very well become a venue killer. The owners seem to have a great attitude, the bookers know what they're doing, and plenty of bones have been thrown to the alt-comedy kids. The only thing up in the air is whether patrons in New York can support a space like this.
--One of the coolest features about the space is the built-in production studio with its capability to produce a tv ready taping on the fly.
--Before the night began, a parade of comedy celebs and regular celebs and cheerleaders and fake nurse-bartenders and trannies emerged from the Meatpacking district and strutted down the red carpet.
--SNL's Kristen Wiig showed up with a MYSTERY MAN on her arm.
--When Triumph the Insult Comic Dog posed for photos, Robert Smigel would say in his Triumph voice, "Just the dog please, not the hideous Jew!"
--A smarmy press handler THOUGHT SHE WAS STRUCK BY GENIUS LIGHTNING when she zealously introduced Queer Eye's Thom Filicia to Triumph on the red carpet. She could barely keep her hard on in her pants as she stood back lusting for an awesome gay bashing. Fortunately for Thom, Smigel didn't seem too into being her monkey...
--FACT OR FICTION?: Kristen Schaal and Dave Hill were seen inside quarreling over a bag of cocaine.
--Ran into Jakob Lodwick and he clarified a point some have wondered regarding the InterActiveCorp majority stake purchase in Collegehumor.com. The original Connected Ventures partners continue to own an equal share--no one was bought out.
--SPOTTED! Kurt Braunohler, Trevor Moore, Rebecca Ciletti, Alex Blagg, Lisa Leingang, Jane Borden, Eugene Mirman, and others!

That man is Hayes Hargrove. You might know his music from the sitcom, "Ticket, Please." It's a "Taxi" like half-hour about busdrivers hanging out between runs, until one of them discovers he has the winning lottery ticket. But guess what? The winner decides to keep working with his pals anyway! (Real World's Puck attached?)

All that stuff about Hayes writing music for "Tickets Please" was an enormous lie. I don't know when my inside joke became a fib, but I apologize for the confusion. I do not apologize for being a fan of his, as he is a super awesome comedian. His wife ain't no slouch, neither.
