Strangers With Candy NYC Premiere @ NewFest - 6.1.6
NOTES
--After several emails which might be put in the "ain't too proud to beg" file folder, The Apiary secured access to the PHOTOGRAPHER MOSH PIT. We were placed right next to The New York Observer! Correspondents for AM New York and Rush & Mulloy were SPOTTED, as was National Lampoon. Although TMZ.com was on the press list, THEY WERE A NO CALL NO SHOW. Was Brandon Davis holding a crucial press conference elsewhere?
--Who walked the red carpet?? Amy Sedaris & Paul Dinello. Colbert was not in attendance.
--Amy told The Observer reporter that she lines her rabbit's cage with their paper--she likes it because it's pink.
--The film was produced by Letterman's production company, WorldWide Pants, and featured musical arrangements by Paul Schaefer.
--Changes in the cast: Dad, Derrick, and Orlando. Why? In the post-show Q&A, Paul & Amy gave the following reasons: Orlando refused the role for political reasons, the original Derrick is said to look like a 45-year old longshoreman now, and the role of Jerri's Dad, who is in a coma the entire film, required too much acting for Roberto Gari.
--The film is stuffed with notable supporting roles by Sarah Jessica Parker (a grief counselor whose father was executed for war crimes), Matthew Broderick (a teacher with a flair for winning science fairs), Philip Seymour Hoffman, and David Rakoff.
--The credits give special thanks to Tony Lagarto, proprieter of the SWC fansite, www.jerriblank.com.
--Matt Lappin, a producer at The Colbert Report and writer for the original TV series, is credited as "Comedy Consultant." He's also name-checked in the film in a scene when Tammy Littlenut and Jerri talk about boys they'd like to kiss. Jerri asks, "Matt Lappin?" Tammy replies, "Gross."
--What's next for Jerri Blank? "There are no plans."
--NewFest has some other films coming up that are worth the clams. Check out the schedule.

Wow, I remember Paul when he was >> this >> small. He's grown up into such a fine gentleman and civil servant. Handsome and rich. Votes, too. God Bless America.

I'd just like to thank you for mentioning my "Special Thanks" credit in the movie and my website.
Good times,
Tony
