Flaming Box of Stuff Burns Out, But the Embers Still Glow

Many people were wondering why the sensational Seattle sketch group, Flaming Box of Stuff, will not be returning for SketchFest NYC this year. Cory Nealy wrote in to address the matter.

"Sadly, as a group we will not be attending this year’s SketchFest NYC. While not a hundred percent broken up as a group (we are still holding out hope for some sort of a farewell show this fall in Seattle) it unfortunately does look like the end is near. I wish I could say it was all a sordid story of the industry tearing us apart from the inside out while egos raged out of control and I fought a severe drug habit, but the fact is I think we burned out due to the grind of keeping the group together as some members wanted to take on other projects away from the sketch scene, some have been courted by the bright lights of Hollywood and the general realization that we had done most everything we could do as a group in the backwaters of Seattle and are just getting too old to be partying all night with the young ‘uns. I really wish we could have returned to one of the greatest sketch festivals in the world (NYC) and followed up what was an amazing experience last year, but “oh well.”

I must say though that anybody who saw Flaming Box of Stuff last year and enjoyed what they saw, then you should definitely go and see Dusty Warren in his new solo show “All American Push Up Party.” It is everything that was great about FBoS plus more Dusty Warren. What else could anyone want?"

Also, do NOT miss Maximum Impact Performance Squad featuring the Bert & Ernie of Flaming Box, Kirk Anderson & Evan Mosher. They are fucking incredible. They represent a good portion of the weirder, more surreal portions of FBOS. Seriously. Unlike anything you've ever seen.

...nice to see Kirsten Ames ruining comedy somewhere other than NYC for a change.

Absolutely--everywhere she touches with her hand withers. She's like a fucking plague, but for comedy.
