Chengwin Gets Married; What Happened to Chengwin?

Gawker reported today on the marriage of Matthew Murphy and Kelly Schoeffel. Matt Murphy is the former UCB student turned-NYC street theater sensation known as Chengwin. It's been over a year and a half since Chengwin and his evil archnemesis Chunk last went beak to beak.

In a December 2005 interview with The New York Post's indie-beat reporter, Maureen Callahan, Matt Murphy says:

"For whatever reason, I was just like, 'I want to build this giant bird costume that shoots eggs out its back to see what people would do.'" He says the most common response he got from his friends was, "Wow, that's pretty stupid," and that's when he knew he was on to something.

"I think there's a growing group of people looking for this," says Murphy. "We want people to feel like it's New York. We want Chenguin to be a mythic figure in the city."

It's safe to say Chengwin has achieved mythic status. When will the myth return to reality?

The sacred act of marriage is a time for joy and celebration. But, you know, so is watching a half chicken/half penguin barrelling down the streets of SoHo in a quarter mile race. Does anybody know when and if Chengwin will return? And did you catch in the Times blurb that Kurt Braunohler presided over the wedding ceremony?
