Comedy Scene Mobilizes Hurricane Relief Efforts Faster than Fucking FEMA
Asked yesterday if anyone is considering putting on a benefit show for Katrina, and the comments box was flooded, er... overwhelmed, er--let's just say these guys are an incredible bunch of magnanimous folks. Come out to see the city's finest and most upstanding comics while doing your part to help the hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been irrevocably devastated. Here is a list of upcoming benefits:
September 12th @ The UCB - Crash Test
Featuring Eugene Mirman, Christian Finnegan, Andy Blitz & other special guests. Hosted by Aziz Ansari. Proceeds go to Mercy Corps. DETAILS
September 13th @ PS 122 - The Rejection Show
Jon Friedman has announced that a percentage of ticket sales from this month's edition of The Rejection Show will go to charity. DETAILS
September 13th @ The Cornelia Street Cafe
John Morrisson says, "Just came from a planning meeting at Cornelia Street Cafe. There will be a benefit concert. More details soon"
September 14th @ The Kraine Theatre
Anthony Devito and Ballyhoo Promotions are putting together a show called Northern Hospitality with all money going to the Red Cross. DETAILS
Sunday, September 18th @ The UCB - MercyCat
"The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre presents two special performances of their long-running improv show, ASSSSCAT, to raise support for Mercy Corps' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Every dollar raised at the show will go directly to Mercy Corps' relief efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama." DETAILS
September 22 @ Mo Pitkins
Liam McEneaney is setting something up. Money raised will go to the Red Cross. DETAILS
