The Apiary gets a lot of hits from people Googling "Midwest fannypack obsession" and "websites for fatty tourists", so to cater to this crowd, we're telling THEM...
How to Get a Ticket to SNL
Unless you know someone on the crew (they are alotted seats for friends) or live a life of careful planning and decision by entering the SNL ticket lottery last August, you have two feasible ways of getting into Studio 8-H on a whim.
1) Craigslist
Unfortunately, the Craigslist Ticket board is filled with buyers, NOT sellers. It has to do with the fact that paper tickets are not issued. SNL uses a system of will calls and +1s now. There's still an uber slim chance someone is out there who could not find anyone to take to the show and LOVES strangers. Searching the Tickets and the Personals sections should cover your bases.
2) Set your alarm clock.
No wait. Just bring a mattress, a bed tent, and a blanket. Are you committed to sparkle motion? If you REAAALLY want to go, you should plant yourself at 30 Rockefeller Center and start the STANDBY queue at 5:00PM on the Friday evening before the Saturday broadcast. Numbers are passed out for the dress rehearsal and the live show at 7AM. Once you get a number, you come back and wait some more, but we're told that a standby number don't mean a thing if the host or musical guest is really popular.
